The English Opens Doors Program and the National Volunteer Center are pleased to announce that we are now officially accepting volunteer applications for the 2017 school year!
This volunteer opportunity is designed for native and near-native English speakers to work as assistant English teachers in public schools throughout Chile. Volunteers work in conjunction with Chilean English teachers for the duration of their service, planning dynamic and interactive activities for their students. The focus of volunteers’ classes is on speaking and listening skills, giving students opportunities to practice their English with a native or near-native speaker. Volunteers encourage students to feel comfortable speaking and interacting using English by creating an immersive and encouraging environment. They also implement a wide range of games and activities that are designed to be fun and engaging, thereby lowering the pressure associated with speaking correctly in a foreign language.
Similar to other years, we have opened both one-semester and two-semester services. At this time, we have scheduled one fall semester service (VS1 March 20th – July 23rd), one fall and spring semester service (VS2 April 3rd – November 25th), and two spring semester services (July 24th – November 26th and August 7th – November 26th).
